On a very cold swirly Snowy March morning we set off in convoy
for Ilam to a nice little site.
Jonathan & Trevor had put the canes out on
the Sat and Jonathan just happened to comment on the fact that
the new canes had white tops. Well as you know the Sunday came
and it Snowed and Snowed and yes we couldn’t see the canes.
Before starting the lads had to go round putting chitling tape
on the tops which wasn’t too bad at first but as the snow
got heavier they became harder and harder to make out. |

We
had invited friends from the Romily club to share the Event with
us and we had 3 of the Romily lads with us competing to start with
and after 3 sections the others arrived around 11.15am. Apparently
they had spent the night in a local hostelry in Ashbourne, whiling
the night away until 4.00am the next morning, then not being able
to get up early enough to be with us for 10.00am. |

|
This really was better as we had done the first three sections
and Phil their Chairman took charge of their lot and got them round
while we did our last three sections.
Walking the sections was as cold as standing and
scoring so we stopped for a while to have a hot brew and thaw out
a bit.

|
Another
late arrival told us that conditions were getting bad on the lanes
so
finishing the sections we had lunch and it was decided
that we abandon the
site.

You
can see by the last photo that it had got quite thick. After
people going their different ways a few of us stayed together
and decided to do a few White lanes on our way back. We'd had
a great day out and even though it was cold the snow made our
day!
