Boxing Day Run 2004

The Event this year was extremely well organized “Thanks” must go out to Arlo for all the hard work he put into it and for reckying the lanes in advance to make sure things ran smoothly for the members who pre-booked this year. “ Well done Arlo”

Trevor and I led a group of 4 and our first lane was to be the Roman Road over to Hope which we haven’t done for a long time. Along the Snake Pass just before the first gate was a work lorry parked in a stupid place.

It was on a bend and just before work lights where we stopped at red. We could smell burn and thought it was the work lorry. Approaching the Gate, both Trevor and I got out, he noticed smoke coming from under his bonnet, and on investigation it was nothing more serious than a Dirty Oily Rag stuck to the exhaust manifold. After putting this out and not wanting to leave it on the lane, he stuck it on his front bumper and after going along the Snow filled track getting out at the next gate, I told Trevor to get out smartish and come and see… Guess what, the rag had only caught hold again but this time he had a nice little fire burning on his bumper!
Here we met up with Steve H’s group and after refreshments we were off again to enjoy Edensor.

As we got higher, the scenery became really lovely with the snow all over the hills. After we went onto the next lane, Shatton Moor. A couple more scenic lanes on our way to the rendezvous Pub, The Barrel Inn.

Chatsworth, High rake were our next lanes. The last two lanes of the original PHAB run saw us now nearing 4.00pm.The Quarry run to finish a fantastic day out.
