Boxing Day green laning

What better way to burn off the Christmas dinner than a few hours green laning. With the promise of a late start and an early finish, Jane agreed to come to.

Twenty-two vehicles had booked in with Pat for the day, including a few that turned up unannounced.

The sensible bunch that we are, Pat had already split everyone up into small groups and pre-arranged a group leader complete with maps, which turned out to be us. Our group consisited of Frank and LInda, Arlo, Graham, and myself and Jane.

After a strange breakfast at McDonald's Mottram (no breakfasts, only burgers) we headed off for our first lane.

After driving through Whalley Bridge we came into the Goyt Valley and drove a couple of easy stone lanes. Just to lighten up the drive, Frank's Land Rover got a stone lodged in the disk brake, which was swiftly removed and a back shock absorber mount on the LJ80 sheared off, which again was swiftly removed (to be honest you couldn't spot much difference).

We then made our way over to the lanes near High Edge Race Track, which are always entertaining. And so they proved with some interesting stone steps to negotiate plus some washed out side slopes to get up.

With the time hovering around one o'clock we decided to call it a day and went home through Buxton, whilst Frank and Linda went to meet Pat and Trevor's group for a late lunch at two.
